Senior Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Quality Engineer with deep expertise in First Article Inspection (FAI) and Last Article Inspection (LAI) processes to join our quality and manufacturing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring product and process compliance with aerospace standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting manufacturing operations through proactive quality management. Permanent full time role 3-4 days onsite Belfast or Prestwick (Scotland)
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage FAI and LAI activities in accordance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements. Review and validate FAI and LAI documentation packages submitted by internal teams or suppliers. Ensure quality standards are met throughout the production process, from prototype to serial manufacturing. Investigate non-conformances (NCRs) and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) . Drive continuous improvement using Six Sigma methodologies (Green or Black Belt preferred) . Support manufacturing engineering in root cause analysis and process capability studies . Maintain compliance with AS9100 and other relevant aerospace quality standards. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and maintain high delivery performance. Prepare and participate in customer audits, internal audits, and product reviews . Provide mentoring and guidance to junior quality engineers and technicians.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace quality engineering or manufacturing quality. Proven expertise in FAI and LAI execution and documentation (AS9102 compliant). Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes (metallic and/or composites). Certification or formal training in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) . Solid knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 , and EASA Part 21 / 145 quality frameworks. Skilled in problem-solving tools : 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis. Proficient in quality tools such as Minitab, SAP, or similar QMS platforms . Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Attributes
Familiarity with customer FAI/LAI portals and digital quality systems . Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a hybrid setup.
