Senior Software Engineer

We're hiring for a Senior Software Engineer to work on and modernise a bespoke Web Admin System. In this role you'll be maintaining business operations whilst driving modernisation, security, and scalability. Excellent PHP, MySQL, and AWS skills are essential. Experience migrating legacy code, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and data protection is highly desired.
Role: Senior Software Engineer (PHP)
Salary: £55k-£70k
Location: Predominantly remote with one or two office visits a month in Oxfordshire
Key Responsibilities
- To maintain the Web Admin System (PHP/MariaDB on AWS).
- To optimise and secure the system, while gradually introducing new best practice such as automated testing, CI/CD, and improved documentation.
- Manage AWS infrastructure and disaster recovery processes.
- To deliver system modernisation projects while ensuring stability.
- Optimising database performance and maintaining our system security.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive system documentation.
Essential skills:
- Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience
- PHP and MySQL/MariaDB expertise
- Commercial AWS experience
- Security best practices
- Experience implementing automated testing.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
