Overview

BPDM Structural Engineers in London is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (with a minimum of 10 years of UK work experience) to join the team. The role offers diverse work including structural design on refurbishment and new build projects, checking engineering, design of temporary works, and a focus on structural surveys of buildings and report writing. The successful candidate will travel to various buildings across London and the Southeast to diagnose structural issues.

Responsibilities

• Visit buildings to carry out structural surveys and write reports.
• Prepare correspondence and technical reports.
• Attend design meetings and site visits with clients and other design team members.
• Work independently and as part of a team in producing concept designs and detailed structural design calculations.
• Coordinate designs with other construction professionals.
• Undertake structural analysis and designs using software packages and by hand as required.
• Produce drawings and specifications and conduct quality reviews prior to issue.

Qualifications and Skills

• Steelwork and reinforced concrete design to BS and EU Codes.
• Masonry and timber design to BS and EU Codes.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to produce structural construction drawings and specifications for projects.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• IT literacy with experience in structural design software packages including at least two of: Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, SAP2000, and Etabs.
• Technically competent with a very good level of spoken and written English.
• Willing to visit construction sites and buildings for site work and surveys.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful.

Education and Experience

• Experience: 10 years and upwards, experience in UK building structures design.
• Education: Meng or BEng (Bachelor's degree) minimum 2:1 required.
