Senior/Principal/Associate Civil/Structural Engineer

We are expanding our portfolio in the energy and industrial sectors and are seeking an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our Global multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. The role involves leading the structural design of buildings in energy and industrial projects, with responsibilities including mentoring team members, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing designs.

The position is primarily office-based with hybrid working options, located in one of our structural engineering offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to client and project sites will be required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Following project delivery models such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE stages.
• Designing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing buildings, substations, power stations, and infrastructure.
• Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with standards.
• Developing innovative engineering solutions to enhance performance and reduce costs.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers.
• Preparing technical reports, documentation, and proposals.
• Mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.
• Staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
• Supporting business development and tender activities.

Qualifications & experience required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE.
• At least 7 years (Senior/Principal) or 10 years (Associate) of industry experience in structural engineering, especially in energy and industrial projects.
• Experience with substation design and relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

Skills and competencies:

• Strong knowledge of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and lead teams effectively.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy-efficient design.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in resource and cost estimation, project planning, and tendering.
