Role overview
We are growing our world class Ground & Water team. With a strong pipeline of confirmed work moving into 2026, there is an opportunity for several Site Engineers (Geo-environmental) to join our team. This role supports large scale ground investigations and will require substantial on-site work and travel within the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in day-to-day delivery, working closely with and being supported by team members, project managers and project directors. Activities will typically include groundwater monitoring and supervision of contractors (e.g. drill rigs). The role will be predominantly site based with travel to sites across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Completion of groundwater monitoring.
- Supervision of site investigations.
- Supervision of field work including soil logging and environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling and ground gas monitoring.
- Data collation.
- Ensuring that all work is delivered in line with procedures and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards.
Experience and qualifications
- Knowledge of the requirements for planning and supervision of site investigations.
- Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application to safe design and implementation of site investigations.
- Data handling, including experience in the use of GIS is desirable.
We’re looking for someone who
- Has a full UK driving licence (or equivalent) – essential for the role.
- Is comfortable working on-site.
- Has the ability to use initiative and be self-motivated.
- Has confidence to ask questions to understand objectives and expectations, and to learn.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and has excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Remains calm and focused under pressure and can learn quickly in a changing environment.
- Delivers on commitments on time and to the right quality; manages time effectively and has a strong work ethic.
- Can build rapport and trust with peers and stakeholders; can work within a defined budget and timescales.
Qualifications
- Site safety qualifications (e.g. first aid training and site supervisor safety training scheme or equivalent) are desirable.
- Relevant technical degree is desirable but not essential (e.g. chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or environmental science).
- Able to travel to sites across the UK as required.
