Purpose of the role

The Universal Content team is responsible for delivering metadata to the BBC’s online and broadcast products. We support several large-scale programme metadata APIs and are currently building a new metadata distribution system to ensure content is shared reliably and efficiently across the BBC.

Our backend systems are used by teams across the organisation - including BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport, and BBC Weather - to determine what content can be played and when. These teams rely on us to deliver metadata about programmes and short-form content quickly and accurately.

Why join the team

We are two feature teams of around ten engineers each, working in a collaborative, agile environment. Our teams help define their own ways of working, drawing from industry best practices and internal experience. We value continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
