RoleStress Engineer / Finite Element Analyst – Gas Turbine EnginesThis is a contract role OUTSIDE IR35.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Stress Engineer to take ownership of structural analysis activities on gas turbine components. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in FEA, materials behaviour, and life assessment, with experience working on rotating and structural parts in aerospace applications. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, technical documentation, and presentation of analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders.You’ll be working with one of the industry\'s largest OEMs on projects and deliverables closely aligned with their long term and continued success.Key ResponsibilitiesLead stress analysis of assigned components, ensuring compliance with all technical, fit, form, and functional requirements.Perform detailed 2D and 3D FEA, including modelling of contact, friction interfaces, and elastic–plastic behaviour.Collaborate with global engineering and support functions (life management, heat transfer, materials, design) as needed.Interface with design engineering teams to ensure robust and optimised solutions.Support technical reviews and deliver presentations to internal and external customers (systems technical reviews, design reviews, analysis reviews).Produce Design Study Summaries / Design Record Books to substantiate and document engineering activity.Contribute to component life assessment activities (fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics).Provide input to aftermarket services and repairs where relevant.Required Skills & ExperienceDegree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or related engineering discipline.Expertise in gas turbine stress analysis.Strong knowledge of 2D/3D stress and structural analysis of gas turbine rotating and/or static components.Proficiency in finite element modelling tools, including:ANSYS Mechanical APDL / WorkbenchMeshing tools (e.g. Hypermesh, UG NX)Understanding of advanced analysis techniques: non-linear analysis, frictional contact, elastic–plastic behaviour.Experience in component life analysis (fatigue, fracture mechanics, damage tolerance).Familiarity with aftermarket services or repair engineering (advantageous).Computer & Tool RequirementsProficient in Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Working knowledge of Salesforce (or similar business systems).Training provided on proprietary applications as required.Professional DevelopmentOngoing training and professional growth opportunities provided.
