Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient and compliant delivery of all certain parts of the structural engineering design on the project, working with and reporting to the WSP Senior Engineer.
  • Interface and coordinate across multi-discipline teams to ensure the client's technical requirements are met.
  • Contribute to client liaison regarding day-to-day structural engineering issues and with design responsibility for parts of the structural design works.
  • Advise the Senior Structural Engineer in administering the structural design aspects of the contract in a technical capacity.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering design support and technical mentoring to WSP Assistant and Graduate Engineers and junior structural technicians on the project.
  • Produce and review technical aspects of the structural engineering design work, including design calculations, specifications and design packages in line with WSP standards and manuals.
  • Apply knowledge of REVIT Structure to coordinate and integrate structural designs into WSP REVIT Structures models.
  • Develop drawing and sketching skills to illustrate concept appraisals, feasibility studies and final design details.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Knowledge of REVIT Structure and ability to coordinate with WSP REVIT Structures models.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status, with formal training review or mentorship in place; Apprentices may have Incorporated Engineer or EngTech qualification.
  • Ability to conceive approximate scheme solutions and assess viability of materials and construction forms.
  • Capability to solve structural engineering problems using traditional hand calculations and computer analysis, understanding limitations of these techniques.
  • Experience in preparing materials and workmanship specifications and design reports.
  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability objectives, issues and legislation influencing design.
  • Experience with construction techniques, site visits, temporary support systems, construction planning and sequencing.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations, project briefs or design concepts.
  • Experience in mentoring at least one Graduate Engineer or Technician.
  • Experience organizing design reviews at key project stages; awareness of hazard and risk assessments to mitigate construction risks.
  • Ability to manage and lead through programming and control of resources for delivery of a project part; communicate any scope or programme impacts internally.
  • Understand the scope of contract and the impact of any changes to scope.
