Senior Structural Design Engineer - Environment (Water)

Location: Solihull / Grangemouth (Scotland) / Nottingham (Annesley / Warrington / Bristol / other locations considered)

What you will be doing:

As Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Principal Engineers, Design Teams, and Managers to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S Regulations. This technical role involves direct project engagement, requiring expertise in water and wastewater industry design. You may also have line management responsibilities for other engineers.

You will contribute to engineering governance, ensure design integration, support procurement, and assist site activities. Mentoring and knowledge sharing with early-career engineers are also expected.

In this role you will:

• Deliver structural designs for water/wastewater projects
• Review schemes, produce reports, calculations, and initial drawings
• Undertake detailed design of reinforced concrete and steel structures
• Modify existing structural assets
• Mentor junior engineers
• Design for reduced carbon footprint
• Support planning, costing, and scheduling
• Assist construction teams and support site assessments

Specific Requirements

• Proven experience in relevant discipline
• Extensive knowledge of reinforced concrete design for water/wastewater sector
• Knowledge of current British Standards, Eurocodes, BS EN
• Experience with structural analysis software (STAADPro, Strand, TEKLA, TEDDS, etc.)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience in structural assessments and client liaison

Other Requirements:

• Track record in water sector structures
• Experience in structural design from concept to construction
• Knowledge of engineering practices, supervision, and project management
• Proficiency with MS Office and industry regulations
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate with stakeholders
