Aerothermal Engineer - Cold Section (Fans and Compressors)

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an Aerothermal Engineer within our Defence business in Bristol.

In this role, you will be part of the fluid mechanics capability within the global mechanical systems ET&S organisation.

The Cold Section Aerothermal Engineer is responsible for the development of Aerothermal capability, both engine delivery from original inception and discussion with the airframers, through NPI, EDP on to Production and Fleet support and technology delivery from TRL1-7.

The Aerothermal capability covers gas path aerodynamics and thermodynamics and relies on skills in Computational Fluid Dynamics at a range of levels of fidelity and testing capability in a range of TRL rigs. Design and capability relies also on a knowledge and understanding of the interaction of these components both locally and at an engine level.

In this role you will:

Evaluate using appropriate analytical methods to support accurate trades at platform and powerplant level and optimised concept down-select. Concepts delivered should be robust to uncertainties in engine interaction and manufacturing capabilities.

This includes ensuring retention for the relevant time period and deletion once the data or files are superseded or obsolete.
