The Role

We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer with a strong mechanical background and hands-on engineering skills. This is a vital role that connects engineering, quality, sales, and customer service. You will be the go-to technical contact for both internal teams and external customers, supporting product queries, installations, testing, and improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for customer queries, product installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and design teams to resolve product issues.
  • Investigate and report on root causes of faults and field problems.
  • Assist in testing and validation of new and existing products.
  • Maintain technical documentation, drawings, and test records.
  • Attend customer sites and consultation meetings where required.
  • Deliver internal technical training to sales and customer service teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement based on feedback from customers and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship (minimum)
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Skilled in hands-on testing and mechanical fault finding
  • Practical understanding of fabrication and assembly methods
  • Effective communication skills – clear, confident, and professional
  • High attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and cross-functionally

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in architectural hardware or construction products
  • Knowledge of CE, UKCA, and BS standards and test requirements
  • Familiarity with Siemens SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD tools
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
