Trainee Field-Based Engineer

Field-Based – Sheffield South Yorkshire

Are you looking to kickstart a long-term career in engineering? We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Field-Based Engineer to join a growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a hands-on approach and a strong interest in mechanical and multi-skilled engineering.

You will gain practical experience by working alongside experienced engineers, assisting with installations, repairs, and servicing. Structured training—both internal and external—will cover hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems to support your technical development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist senior engineers with installation, maintenance, and repair work on-site

* Help with mechanical assembly, routine servicing, and fault finding

* Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient work environment

* Participate in formal training programmes to build core technical knowledge

* Accurately complete service reports, job records, and timesheets using a tablet/PDA

* Travel to customer sites across the region, including occasional overnight stays

What We’re Looking For:

* Strong interest in engineering, mechanics, or maintenance

* Practical and hands-on mindset

* Good communication and teamwork abilities

* Comfortable using digital devices for documentation

* Eagerness to learn and complete accredited training courses

* Reliable, punctual, and professional in approach

* Full UK driving licence required

* Flexibility for travel and occasional unsociable hours

* Hourly rate: £13.20 – £13.50
