Your impact

In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of complex and high-value energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Continental Europe. You will work within a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design and specification of high-voltage (HV) substation plant and systems, supporting projects that span transmission assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage solutions, and facilities for mission-critical sectors. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing designs up to 400 kV, from concept and FEED through to detailed design for construction. You will ensure technical excellence, compliance with client specifications, and adherence to health, safety and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with major clients such as National Grid and SSEN, interface with other engineering disciplines, and contribute to the development of a resilient and sustainable energy network.

What you'll need

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status
  • Experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Relevant professional experience in HV and LV substations (up to 400 kV); experience preparing design calculations, reports and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) preferred but not essential
