About the Role

TGS International are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Centre Engineer to join our client’s team in Bracknell. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting critical data centre operations, focusing on structured cabling, hardware installation, and infrastructure audits. This role comes with excellent opportunities for progression, with a clear salary growth pathway.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack and stack servers, network devices, and storage hardware.
  • Accurately read and follow patching schedules.
  • Deliver patching work to an exceptionally high standard.
  • Audit, document, and improve existing hardware and cabling layouts.
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat5e/6/6a and fibre structured cabling systems.
  • Support the design and planning of new data centre deployments.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in structured cabling and patching.
  • 3+ years’ experience in data centre environments (ideally within DC Operations).
  • Relevant cabling certification (CNCI, BTEC, City & Guilds, or BICSI).
  • Deep knowledge of cabling installation best practices and testing (copper & fibre).
  • Skilled in using testing equipment: OTDR, Fluke, Network Analyser, VFL.
  • Strong understanding of CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, OM3/OM4, OS2 cabling systems.
  • Hands-on experience in installation, termination, and testing of copper and fibre networks.
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability using industry-standard tools.
  • 25 Days holiday + Bank Holidays
