Overview

Field Support Engineer position with Thales, Stockport/Cheadle area, United Kingdom. The role involves supervision and conduct of deployment, setting to work and in service support of Sonar and/or Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers ships/submarines.

What you will deliver

  • Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms in Defect Rectification: conduct and supervise front-line support including fault diagnosis and testing as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea; provide on-call telephone support to customers; write site visit reports.
  • Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms during Maintenance Periods/Refits: conduct pre-upkeep maintenance assessment (PUMA) inspections; conduct and supervise scheduled maintenance activities; advise the Service Delivery Manager of stores required for the refit; escalate engineering issues as required; write post maintenance reports.
  • Weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager/Field Services Manager: activities undertaken, upcoming activities, successes, challenges, opportunities; identify any support required from the project or department; ensure compliance with all export control rules and regulations including ITAR.

Who we are looking for

  • Significant track record of performance in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Preferably experienced with Complex Systems (Electrical, Electronic, and Hydraulic)
  • Capable of taking the lead in resolving issues, problems, questions, and conflicts for the team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
