Our client is a Professional Services company with an international workforce. They are looking for a Monitoring Engineer to be based at their Manchester site, part of a follow-the-sun Global Team.

This role involves assisting in service availability, performance, vulnerability, and compliance monitoring. You will operate, administer, and engineer monitoring solutions within a complex environment and contribute to the design and implementation of monitoring systems integrations and observability platform architecture. There is an ongoing focus on Azure and building automated functions within operations.

They seek an individual with proven experience across a range of observability tools, in both on-premises and cloud contexts, with solid understanding of observability frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the provision of service availability, performance, vulnerability, and compliance monitoring.
  • Operate, administer, and engineer monitoring solutions within a complex environment.
  • Contribute to monitoring and observability platform technical design and architectural decisions and changes, including design and implementation of new monitoring systems integrations.
  • Support ongoing journey with Azure and automation within operations.
  • Work with a range of observability tools (on-premises and cloud) to evaluate application/system state and maintain a healthy, stable platform.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale corporate environment.
  • Proven knowledge of observability tools and core concepts; ability to evaluate state and ensure platform health.
  • Experience with multiple monitoring and observability tools (on-premises and cloud).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services, ideally Azure Monitoring and Azure Automation.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server OS, IIS, AD, DNS, SQL Server, and Exchange.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Prometheus may be beneficial.
