A Little More About Your Role In the role of Engineer working on Overhead Transmission Line projects, you will be responsible for supervising a team of design engineers specializing in Overhead Transmission Lines. This team will be working on a variety of projects encompassing overhead transmission lines ranging from 11kV to 400kV.

  • Providing technical evaluations and offering problem-solving solutions to different team members.
  • Prepare written proposals outlining everything stakeholders should know about a project, including the timeline, allocating resources, budget, objectives, and goals.
  • Offer technical guidance and input throughout the project implementation, statutory planning, and participation in Public Consultation events.
  • Responsible for the engineering and design activities of the team related to the overhead line. This includes PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor blowout, swing angle, damper system recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, conductor, and insulator selection, etc.
  • Conducting feasibility studies, performing conductor thermal ratings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Undertake studies to identify a technically preferred solution / layout to take forward to the Client.
  • Actively taking part in Industry working groups such as CIGRE, IEEE.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
  • Prior experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
  • Prior experience on upgrading work projects such as utilisation of High Temperature Low Sag conductors.
  • Desirable – PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER
  • Knowledge of conducting galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, AC Interference for Gas pipelines would be a plus.
  • The ability to travel as projects dictate.
