What you will do

  • Lead a team of design engineers specializing in Overhead Transmission Lines, covering projects from 11kV to 400kV.
  • Provide technical evaluations and solve problems for the team; prepare written proposals detailing project scope, timeline, resources, budget, objectives, and goals.
  • Offer technical guidance throughout project implementation, statutory planning, and public consultation activities.
  • Oversee engineering and design activities for the team related to overhead lines, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, design criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor considerations, swing angles, damper systems, structure spotting, clearance reports, and conductor/insulator selection.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, perform conductor thermal ratings, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Undertake studies to identify a technically preferred solution or layout to take forward to the Client.
  • Participate in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
  • Prior experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
  • Experience on upgrading projects such as use of High Temperature Low Sag conductors.
  • Desirable – PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER.
  • Knowledge of galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, and AC Interference for gas pipelines is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as projects dictate.
