In this role you will be supporting internal and external customers with passive fire protection engineering judgements, queries, specifications, and drawings, involving detailed technical designs for passive fire protection systems.

What does the role involve?

  • Working on technical enquiries for internal and external stakeholders. This involves designing and specifying firestop products, creating engineering judgements and technical drawings, and advising on installation and performance of passive fire protection systems.
  • Creating bespoke and customer-tailored packages to meet project requirements.
  • Analysing technical specifications / drawings / plans to advise the most suitable product selection while ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborating with Fire Protection-related teams to address technical queries and providing solutions / product specifications.
  • Using internal reporting systems to archive queries and advice provided, ensuring traceability of information.
  • Working with and supporting the Fire Protection Team and related activities.
  • Upkeep of CPD records, maintaining competence on the latest Hilti Firestop products and ensuring up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, ensuring quality and safety standards are followed.

Our Regional Head Office is based at Circle Square in Central Manchester. We offer a hybrid pattern between office and home and flexible working options—please discuss your needs at interview.

What you need

  • Degree in an engineering discipline (ideally Civil, Structural or Mechanical) or related subject
  • Demonstrable experience in Passive Fire Protection, conducting assessments or engineering judgments on proposed solutions
  • Familiar with construction processes and site procedures; understanding of industry terminology, ideally from UK projects (not essential)
  • Ability to derive practical solutions from technical data while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards and safety
  • Clear communication of technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences; strong teamwork
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Strong AutoCAD knowledge
  • Ability to network and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and spoken English
