Principal Engineer - Fire Engineering role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.

Your new role, what’s involved

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects from a University in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building. You’ll run through design information, liaise with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and help inform the design team about changes that could increase building safety.

In addition, you will be guided through a range of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start. We support professional registration toward chartered status or equivalent through a tailored development programme.

Responsibilities

  • Review and develop fire engineering design information across multiple projects.
  • Liaise with Facades, Acoustics, Structures and other disciplines.
  • Present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service.
  • Recommend design changes to enhance building fire safety.
  • Support project teams with technical input and ongoing client updates.

Qualifications

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Experience within the fire engineering consulting industry is required. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices. We offer a bespoke development programme to support professional skills and technical growth toward chartered status or equivalent.
