Overview

WSP – Principal Engineer - Fire Engineering. Location: Stockton-On-Tees, England, United Kingdom. This role involves leading fire engineering design across a variety of projects and supporting professional registration and development.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you’ll typically work on multiple projects at once, including international assignments, with the goal of enabling innovative architectural design while ensuring fire safety. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing design information and liaising with WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures.
  • Presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service.
  • Informing the design team about changes to increase building safety.
  • Learning and using various software packages, fire standards, and participating in team briefings and client updates.
  • Supporting professional registration through IFE and other organisations.

WSP offers a bespoke development programme for fire engineers to build professional skills and technical expertise, with support from the senior leadership team toward chartership or equivalent qualifications. The programme includes training in:

  • Technical report writing
  • Team specific technical skills
  • Project management (intro and advanced)
  • Influential communications
  • Commercial concepts
  • Collaborative team challenges

We’d love to hear from you if you have

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
