Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer\n\nLocation: Wembley\n\nSalary: £DOE\n\nKey Skills: Manufacturing Engineer, NPI, Continuous Improvement, DFM, Six Sigma, Process Improvement, Defect Management, value Stream Mapping, Automotive, Aerospace, Production, Bill of Materials\n\nThe Role:\n\nWe are seeking a proactive Senior Manufacturing Engineer to collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Project teams to ensure new product designs are manufacturable, testable, and aligned with production goals. The role will focus on driving Design for Manufacture (DFM), supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across production processes.\n\nKey Responsibilities as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer:\n\nWork with cross-functional teams to review new product designs, applying DFM principles and ensuring standardisation and ease of manufacture/test.\nParticipate in project meetings, design reviews, and DFM sessions to influence design decisions early.\nSupport prototype builds, identify issues, and resolve problems before full-scale production.\nDevelop and submit manufacturing plans covering layouts, process maps, cycle times, resourcing, tooling, capital equipment, facility upgrades, and workstation setup.\nLead the NPI phase, ensuring quality, cost, configuration, traceability, and project timelines are achieved; provide training to operations staff where required.\nDesign and implement new production lines, facility layouts, and associated CapEx submissions.\nDevelop jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve efficiency, material handling, and standardisation.\nConduct time and motion studies, value stream mapping, and line balancing to optimise productivity.\nCreate and maintain routings within the ERP system, defining process steps and standard times.\nPerform root cause analysis on non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and support quality improvements.\nManage equipment maintenance scheduling to reduce downtime and production stoppages.\nEstimate costs, cycle times, and resource requirements for new designs; monitor production against targets and investigate variances.\nDevelop and maintain clear work instructions to ensure consistent operational standards.\nDrive waste reduction by targeting scrap, rework, and non-value-added activities using Lean/CI methods.\nCollaborate with Procurement and Production Support to improve material flow and reduce inventory.\nStay current with best practices, new techniques, and equipment to enhance the company's manufacturing capability.\nSupport production in achieving on-time delivery, attend daily production meetings, and assist in resolving issues to minimise disruption.\nEnsure full compliance with Health & Safety policies, addressing risks to maintain a safe workplace.Skills, Qualifications & Experience\n\nDegree in Industrial, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline, with significant manufacturing experience.\nKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM).\nProficiency in work measurement, standardisation, and time study techniques.\nCompetence in ERP systems, including routings and Bill of Materials (BoM) structures.\nFamiliarity with 3D CAD packages and strong ability in 2D CAD design.\nStrong analytical and data interpretation skills.\nGood understanding of engineering drawings, schematics, and change control processes.\nExperience managing small teams (desirable).***PLEASE NOTE***\n\nEligibility to gain Security Clearance SC is required to be considered for this opening\n\nServices advertised by Gold Group are those of an Agency and/or an Employment Business.\nWe will contact you within the next 14 days if you are selected for interview.
