Overview

The role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements. We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The role will provide essential cover while our core team delivers a major network transformation and embeds a Network Operations Centre. In this key role, you'll bring your technical expertise, analytical mindset and collaboration to support and maintain our campus-wide network. You'll also act as a technical escalation point, provide 2nd and 3rd line support and contribute to projects involving Azure networking to help shape the future of digital infrastructure at the University.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to support and maintain the campus-wide network; act as a technical escalation point and provide 2nd and 3rd line support.
  • Contribute to projects involving Azure networking and the move to Azure Cloud Services and Zero Trust networking.
  • Engage with suppliers, customers and stakeholders of network data and voice infrastructure, providing technical evaluation and input to ensure the best value for the University.
  • Be part of the team delivering the future transformation of network infrastructure, enabling the University to deliver its digital strategy.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of networking infrastructure and provide guidance for software defined networking within Campus and Data Centre environments.
  • Contribute to projects and project planning, providing advice and guidance at a technical level by presenting information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Extensive experience of supporting and managing all aspects of core infrastructure at a campus network scale.
  • Experience in the delivery and support of wired and wireless technologies and the move to Azure Cloud Services and Zero Trust networking.
  • Knowledge of the delivery and support of software defined networking within Campus and Data Centre environments.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
