The Candidate

We’re building a small team of highly skilled engineers who want to own and deliver entire sections of the platform. This is a great opportunity for someone motivated by solving technical challenges and helping architect new apps and services. Because the team is small, candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of what they build and ensuring it is reliable, scalable, cost-efficient, and compliant. We value fresh ideas and encourage sharing them. The team is largely remote with monthly in-person Townhall meetings in Manchester to stay connected with the company vision. This role is within a flat structure, and opportunities for people management may be limited at this stage.

What you will be doing

Below are our responsibilities, shared across the entire team:

• Build large sections of functionality, or entire services.
• Review code and test the features of fellow engineers.
• Provide 24/7 support for the things you build, with a focus on stability.
• Help define and shape our tech stack, culture, standards and more.

What we are looking for

We are not reliant on formal qualifications; real industry experience is valued. This is a senior role in a small team, so decisions will have wide impact. Essential and desirable experiences are listed below.

Essential

• 8+ years of commercial experience in modern languages (Typescript / Golang / Rust / C# / Java)
• 5+ years of commercial experience with Typescript
• 5+ years of working on web APIs / services
• 3+ years working with a modern frontend framework (Svelte / Angular / React / Vue.js)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation etc.)
• Experience delivering large pieces of functionality as an individual contributor
• Experience working on containerised apps
• Experience with serverless technologies (GCP preferred but not essential)
• Ability to work effectively remotely

Desirable

• Experience working in the HealthCare industry
• Experience working in an eCommerce setting
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience architecting new solutions
• Experience with event-driven architectures
