SharePoint Document Management Engineer (12-month FTC/Secondment)

Overview

The Bank of England is seeking a M365 specialist for a fixed-term 12-month contract (ending October 2026) to support the migration of the document management system to M365 with SharePoint, Microsoft Purview, and a custom Azure solution. The role includes working as part of an on-call support rotation covering evenings and weekends. Location: Leeds or London.

Responsibilities

  • Support SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams; provide BAU operational support and assist with tickets related to SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
  • Engage with external vendors for support, drive value from services, and document solutions for knowledge bases.
  • Provide training to end-users and internal SharePoint champions on best practices and features.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and usability of SharePoint environments.
  • Ensure visibility of solutions through reporting and monitoring tools.
  • Document fixes to benefit colleagues and handle incidents or service requests within SLAs.

Role Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience with the M365 suite, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams; knowledge of architecture, governance, security models, content management, channels, and search.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and Windows PowerShell for automation and administration tasks.
  • Understanding of user identity management in a hybrid Active Directory environment.
  • Experience in a third-line support role with strong problem-solving skills and ability to document solutions for end-users and IT colleagues.
  • Ability to raise and manage support cases with external vendors for complex issues; willingness to work on an on-call rota.

Desirable

  • Microsoft accreditation and/or experience in Document and Records Management.
  • Experience managing Azure applications and updates, including user management and M365 Groups.
  • Ability to develop and maintain Power Automate Flows and Power Apps solutions.
  • Experience configuring backups/restoration for Teams and SharePoint Online; experience with large-scale migrations and tools like ShareGate.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and ITIL practices; knowledge of Data Rights Management and Windows Server administration; understanding of Group Policy Objects in a hybrid AD environment.
